Health Professionals Arrested Over Baby Harvesting And Trafficking In Accra

The Economic and Organized Crimes Office(EOCO) together with the Medical and Dental Council(MDC) Ghana has arrested 8 health professionals over child harvesting and trafficking in Accra.

The two organizations have undertaken some joint investigations over a period of time after a tip off by a taxi driver upon a conversation between two women who bored the taxi.

The Executive Director of EOCO, COP Frank Adu Poku(Rtd) in an interview with Peace news, reporter Prince Baffour Asamoah said, they have been investigating the activities of some medical practitioners, nurses, social welfare officers and other individuals who were suspected to be engaged in the illegal act of baby harvesting and human trafficking.

According to him, they carried out an investigation into the illegal activities between the periods of June to November 2020, and two medical doctors, two social workers, four workers, two mothers and one traditional birth attendant have so far been arrested and are on a bail pending further investigation.

He also added that, one doctor was arrested at his private health facility in accra which he sold the first baby to the team for an amount of thirty thousand Ghana cedis(Ghc30,000.00) and another health facility in Tema also sold another baby  for twenty-Eight Thousand Ghana cedis(Ghc28,000.00)after the suspect agreed to help in purchasing a new born baby.

The Acting General Registrar of Medical and Dental Council, Dr. Divine Banyubala also added that Dr. Hope Mensah Quashie who works at the Susan clinic with his 3 nurses who were his accomplice were arrested and Dr. Leonard Agbley was also arrested at his health facility in Tema.

Robbers Kill Police Officer, makes away with GHC500,000.00 From GC Bank Bullion Van (Watch Video)

About ten young men unmasked wielding assorted guns including AK 47 rifles attacked and robbed a white bullion Van with registration No. GT 543-19 from Ghana Commercial Bank Dunkwa to New Edubiase fired indiscriminately from the rear and facing the van.

The robbers attacked the Van on the section of the road between Obuasi and Asokwa Junction at the outskirts of Adansi Nyankumaso Community and made away five hundred thousand Ghana cedis (500,000.00).

No. 51799 G/L/CPL Babah Martin of Dunkwa Police on board the said vehicle on escort was shot by the robbers on the left leading to his death at the spot.

Police report say the van was driven by Eric Amoah 36yrs and Emmanuel Boateng 33yrs also an escort both men are personnel of the Delta Security Services. None of the above security officer sustain inquiry.

Both currently receiving treatment at the Anglo Ashanti Hospital, Obuasi .

The driver handed over keys to the to the robbers to have access to the money in the van upon demand. The robbers after killing the said police escort took away his AK 47 S/rifle No.6411/11 with 20 rounds.

Mahama Files Another Motion Demanding Original Collation Forms

Lawyers of the former President John Mahama have filed another motion at the Apex court demanding the Electoral Commission to provide them with original copies of the presidential collation results of the various constituencies among others.

 

Today in court, a seven-member panel of the Supreme Court presided over by Justice Anin Yeboah refused a request by lawyers of former President Mahama, the petitioner in the 2020 Presidential election case, to allow the EC to respond to some 12 questions they consider relevant to the matter.

The court in its ruling on Tuesday said the interrogatories raised were discretionary and therefore the Supreme Court does not see it as relevant to the petition before it.

Lawyers of former President John Dramani Mahama were seeking leave of the Supreme Court to allow the electoral commission respond to some 12 interrogatories (questions) to expedite the hearing of the election petition.

But the court refused the request.

 

Supreme Court Dismisses Mahama’s Request For EC To Answer 12 Questions

Addressing the media after court proceedings spokesperson for Mr John Dramani Mahama, Lawyer Dominic Ayine indicated that their application if approved would have help minimize the hours during the cross examination period.

NDC MPs In Parliament Demands Handing Over Notes For Parliament As Required By Presidential Transition Act

The NDC caucus led by Haruna Iddrisu has demand from the Nana Addo government to provide to parliament the handing over note as required by the presidential transition Act 2012(Act 845)

Haruna Iddrisu after a presidential election, some responsibilities and duties are placed on an Incoming President that are germane for the general governance of the country.

Mr. Iddrisu revealed that, pursuant to section 1 of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845), President Nana Addo constituted a Transition Team. It is, however, not enough to simply constitute a transition team, the Team has specific responsibilities to undertake.

According to the leader, section 6 of the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845) requires that the Government to prepare handing over notes 30 days to the Presidential Election.

“Has that been complied with? I doubt! ” He questioned

Section 7 of Act 845 requires the Administrator-General shall make available to the person elected as President the original copies of the handing-over notes: (2) Of the five other copies, (a) the Administrator-General shall retain one copy, and (b) one copy shall be sent respectively to (i) Parliament, (ii) the Chief Justice, iii) the Council of State, and (iv) the Public Records and Archives Administration Department.

The NDC Minority group leader also indicated that the incoming ministers need the notes to guide them in policy making and implementation.

 

2020 Election Petition Hearing: SC Justices Uncomfortable With References To The EC Chairperson

The 2020 election petition hearing is on going and Supreme Court Justices are uncomfortable with reference to the person of Chairperson of the EC Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensah in application of Petitioner’s legal team led by Tsatsu Tsikata.

The Justices argue the office, EC or first respondent should suffice so anybody from that office can step in, in the absence of Jean Mensah. Tsatsu disagrees and argues the matters in contention can only be addressed by the chairperson of the EC and no one

A/R: Police Gun Down Two Suspected Armed Robbers At Santase

Ashanti Regional Police Patrol Teams today 30th December, 2020 at 2:00am engaged some suspected armed robbers in a shootout leading to the death of two of them.

The suspected armed robbers numbering about four had embarked on a robbery expedition at Santasi Kajasi, Oteng Nkwanta and its environs, where they succeeded in robbing occupants of about five (5) houses of their monies, mobile phones, Laptops and other Personal effects.

The Police Information Room and Command Centre received a number of distress calls on the Robbery and dispatched Police Patrol Teams within the area to the Scene. The robbers on seeing Police opened fire.

The Team also returned fire leaving two of the suspected robbers between the ages of 20, and 30 years dead, two others who are suspected to have sustained gun shots wounds managed to escape.

Police spokesperson ASP Gordwin Ahianyo briefing the press about the incident said on the spot search at the scene, revealed two weapons: one foreign pistol loaded with three (3) live ammunition, One (1) revolver with three spent ammunition, two (2) big back packs containing three (3) Laptops Computers, Twenty-Four (24) assorted mobile phones, two machetes and a cash sum of Three Thousand Five Hundred and Eighty Cedis (3,580.00).

The bodies of the deceased persons have since been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital awaiting identification and autopsy, whilst efforts are underway.

NDC to challenge election results in court on Dec. 30

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its Presidential Candidate for the 2020 general elections, John Mahama will be going to court on 30 December to seek redress of what they have described as a flawed election.

A member of the legal team of the Umbrella party, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, said all is set for the election petition hearing.

“So somebody has to complain that the law has not been complied with and that is what the NDC is doing. So we will go to court, we have made that clear.

“Certainly by Wednesday all these matters will be placed before the court. We are suing the presidential as well.” Dafeamekpor revealed on Joy FM’s news analysis programme, Newsfile, on Saturday.

Video: Security officers compel NDC protesters to clean the streets after storming EC headquarters

Security personnel has compelled supporters of the National Democratic Congress to clean up after creating a mess during their protest

Early today, mynewsroomgh.com reported that some angry supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have once again massed up on the street of the Electoral Commission of Ghana headquarters in Accra to protest against what they called a flawed election results.

Clad in black and red attire the protesters were seen chanting “No Mahama No Peace” as they clash with the police.

They were demanding that the Commission reverses its decision to announce Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the President Elect of the Republic of Ghana.

The NDC supporters after their protest created and left behind lot of filth ranging from pure water sachets to soft drink bottles.

In a video sighted by mynewsroomgh.com, security officers are seen instructing the NDC supporters to clean the mess they have created.
