GPL: Asamoah Gyan confirms his move to Legon Cities FC

Days ago, it was in the news that Ghana’s General Captain, Asamoah Gyan has signed on for Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities formerly Wa All Stars.

Recall that Asante Kototo for some time now has shed interest on their desire to snap up the former Sunderland forward.

The Porcupine Warriors had made Ghana’s general captain Asamoah Gyan a firm target ahead of the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.

The Africa’s highest goal scorer at the World Cup had earlier declared he would love to play for Asante Kotoko before he finally hangs up his boots which most sports lovers were looking forward for that.

But Gyan in an Instagram post confirm his signing to Legon Cities as he swerves Asante Kotoko

He wrote: “Here we go. I’m back home to continue my career with @legoncitiesfc. I’m happy to join this club because they have a future plan for Ghana football. Don’t blink when the season starts. Follow my new club for every details of the club. Thanks for your support”, he wrote.

Gyan is the all-time leading goalscorer of the Ghana national team, with 51 goals. He represented Ghana at the 2006, 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cups. With 6 goals, he is the top African goalscorer in the history of the World Cup.

He joins former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatau Dauda who was also signed by the club (Legon Cities) last season.
