The Kejetia Market’s traders have been given the assurance that the days of having just one meter for the full facility are over by Energy Minister Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh (Napo).

The Minister questioned why businesses at the facility couldn’t have separate meters to lower the cost of their high energy bills.

During his visit to the facility to show support for the traders who lost their goods and shops in the fire that broke out last, Dr. Opoku Prempeh gave the traders the assurance.

“I just learned that the building had just one meter in my capacity as Minister of Energy. We’ve already brought 2,000 meters, and we’ll keep bringing more meters until every store has its own unique meter.

“Please, I must be frank with you too, all those who have erected illegal structures in the market will be removed from here. We will not sit idly by while such things happen again after fixing this place, that is what we will not accept, we are begging all.”

‘” With these obstacles in the market, how will any fire tender come into the market, or will any emergency situation be dealt with” he questioned.
