Hopeson Adorye has been granted Ghc20K bail with two sureties following his arrest on Wednesday.

Hopeson Adorye, feeling hurt by the New Patriotic Party’s betrayal, claimed in an interview on Accra FM that the NPP used dynamite to scare voters in the Volta Region.

On the morning of Thursday, 23 May, 2024, he was taken to the Dansoman High Court amidst chants for his release by members of the Movement for Change.

The Ministries Police arrested him on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, for questioning.

On the morning of Thursday, 23 May, 2024, he was taken to the Dansoman High Court amidst chants for his release by members of the Movement for Change.

The Movement for Change leader, Alan Kyerematen, visited him in police custody.

The former member of parliament for Adenta, Buabeng Asamoah after the visit told the media that Hopeson Adorye is not planning to flee the country or his home, despite the police intending to charge him with spreading false information.

Buaben Asamoa suggested that the prolonged detention and transfer to the Ministries might hint at political motives.
