Supreme Court Dismisses Mahama’s Request For EC To Answer 12 Questions

A seven-member panel of the Supreme Court presided over by Justice Anin Yeboah has refused a request by lawyers of former President Mahama, the petitioner in the 2020 Presidential election case, to allow the EC to respond to some 12 questions they consider relevant to the matter.

The court in its ruling on Tuesday said the interrogatories raised were discretionary and therefore the Supreme Court does not see it as relevant to the petition before it.

Lawyers of former President John Dramani Mahama were seeking leave of the Supreme Court to allow the electoral commission respond to some 12 interrogatories (questions) to expedite the hearing of the election petition.

But the court refused the request.

Addressing the media after court proceedings spokesperson for Mr John Dramani Mahama, Lawyer Dominic Ayine indicated that their application if approved would have help minimize the hours during the cross examination period.
