Election 2024: ‘We are not going to sleep; we will go the strongroom with our own tea’- Mahama

Former President and aspiring flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has said party members are not going to sleep as party agents who will be sent to the Electoral Commission’s strongroom will go with their own tea and bread.

This come after Rojo Mettle- Nunoo and Dr. Kpessah Whyte, who were party representatives at the collation Center, were cited for neglect of duty in the 2020 Presidential election suit filed by NDC’s Presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama at the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court stated in its verdict that Rojo Mettle-Nuno and Dr. Kpessah Whyte, the petitioner’s second and third witnesses, should rather blame themselves for leaving the National Collation Centre, that they did not do their job of strict observation of the collation process and must accept the consequences.

Speaking to NDC delegates at Ashaley Botwe in Greater Accra Region on Tuesday as part of a nationwide campaign tour ahead of the NDC’s Presidential Primaries, John Mahama stated that the party will be extra vigilant in the 2024 election, adding [on a lighter note] that the party’s representatives at the strongroom will be provided with their own tea and biscuits.

“We are not going to sleep. We are going to match them at the collation centers. We will be in the collation centers until the last ballot is accounted for. We are going to Match them in the EC’s strongroom. This time we don’t want tea we don’t want biscuit. Those we select to go to the strongroom we will give them our own tea and we will buy them digestive Biscuits to go to the strongroom”.

“Because they are afraid of losing the 2024 election, they have begun to appoint NPP activists to the Electoral Commission in order to control the referee, but when I say it is a Do or Die affair, it means that it is a critical election, and whether they appoint the NPP chairman to the electoral commission, we will match them boot for boot.” We’re going to match them at the polling stations because we don’t want to cheat anyone, but we also don’t want anyone to cheat us. So, we’re going to mark them at the voting place and make sure no extra ballot papers end up in that ballot box.”

He added that “Elections are won or lost at the polling stations. And in all your branches you have polling station. Vigilance at the polling stations is going to be in your custody. Campaigning in the polling station is going to be in your care and so we are going to rely on you to make sure that the election in your polling station is going to be free, fair and transparent. And we are putting in a robust system to be able to transmit out results and you the branch and constituency executives are going to be involved. It is a new system we will come and explain it to you” He said

‘Not Funny’ Ras Kuuku reacts to look-alike craze

Kojo Kurankye known as Ras Kuuku has lambasted Ghanaians for the current look-alike trend, arguing there’s nothing hilarious, jovial, or comedic about it.

In an interview, he told Amansan Krakye, “People shouldn’t see this as funny or comic because it’s not, and we shouldn’t make fun of an artist’s work.”

“If they continue on that tangent, it will appear as if we’re joking or engaging in some sort of comedy,” Ras Kuuku observed.

The ‘3 3 & 1’ hitmaker told Cape Coast-based Property FM monitored by mynewsgh that the media outlets who give them interviews are mocking the aspiring celebrities.

“I don’t agree with those who grant the lookalikes interviews in the media space because they should know we’re serious-minded people in Ghana,” he added. Many artists have invested large sums of money in their trade, and now others portray themselves as lookalikes.

“When these lookalikes are granted interviews by the media, they may think they are wishing them well, but they are actually mocking them, which they are unaware of,” he said on Property Showbiz.
