Tamale: Ex-Convict jailed 40 years for robbery
Tamale High Court has sentenced a 30-year-old ex-convict to 40 years in prison for conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery.
According to the Prosecution, Adamu Issah, together with one Alhassan who is still at large, robbed a pickup truck at gunpoint in Gbanyamli, a Tamale suburb, on May 24, 2022.
Money, mobile phones, a laptop, and other important stuff were found in the pickup. The victim filed a complaint with the police.
On October 26, 2022, Adamu appeared in Tamale High Court and pled guilty to the charges.
However, the prosecution was able to prove that the convict, Adamu Issah, a tipper truck driver from Tamale, did play a role in the crime.
Adamu is also an ex-convict who served a two-year term for stealing an MTN pickup truck in 2016.
He is also standing trial for another robbery incident at the Tamale High Court.
Over several years, more than fifteen cars, predominantly Toyota Hilux pickups, were kidnapped at gunpoint in the Northern region.
According to a police source, Adamu was a member of an international syndicate that operated between Burkina Faso, Togo, and Ghana.
