Priestess robbed of her phone at Aboakyir festival (Video)

A chief priestess has been robbed of her phone during the 2023 Aboakyir festival in Winneba

The priestess from Gyahazie, one of the communities in the Effutu Municipality narrating her ordeal said the robbers took her purse which contains her phone and money.

She however vowed to curse who ever is behind the stealing.

The Aboakyer festival is a bushbuck hunting festival celebrated by the people of Winneba in the Central Region of Ghana.

The Aboakyer Festival takes place every 1st Saturday in May in the coastal town of Winneba where they celebrate their migration from Timbuktu with a traditional hunt, known as the Aboakyer festival. The name Aboakyer translates as “hunting for game or animal” in the Fante dialec.

The festival begins with the hunt on Saturday, when asafo members (hunters) are roused by the sound of drums, bugle, rattles, and bells to begin trooping to their different meeting sites.
