Even Jesus Christ remained silent at a point; You can’t force Jean Mensah to testify- Lawyer Maurice Ampaw Tells Petitioner

Private legal Practitioner Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has said under no circumstance can the petitioner of the ongoing election Petition coerce  the first respondent to testify before the court.

He said the first respondent, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa can only testify at her own will without being forced by the petitioner.

He argued that Mr. Asiedu Nketia during his cross examination refused to provide evidence to prove the 2nd respondent in the person of President Akufo-Addo did not win the 2020 Presidential election. It is on that bases that the EC has also refused to be cross examined. Saying it is a game played in court.

Lawyer Ampaw said to him the Lawyer of Petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata want to use the EC and President Akufo-Addo to clean the mess caused by the witnesses of the petitioner.

Maurice Ampaw, however, sited a biblical example with how Jesus Christ refused to answer questions at the palace of the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate.

“This is not the first time a respondent can decide not to answer questions. You can remain silent even at the edge of death. Jesus Christ did the same. In front of Pontius Pilate when asked if he is the Messiah, he remained silent,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ monitored by mynewsroomgh.com
