Late Rawlings To Be Buried At The Military Cemetery- Funeral Committee

The Funeral Planning Committee for the late former President Jerry John Rawlings have settled on the Military cemetery in Accra to bury him on the 27th of January, 2021.

The decision of the place of burial was taken by the funeral planning committee after a long hours of deliberations on the preparations and program outline for the funeral.

The funeral arrangement had initially been scheduled for December 20, 2020 before it was postponed indefinitely.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings died on Thursday, November 12, at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra after a short illness.

Addressing the press after the meeting, the Spokesperson for the Funeral Planning Committee, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed that, the funeral arrangements will begin from the 22nd and 23rd at Anglo by the Anglo state as they will hold events to celebrate the life of the late president.

He stressed that, from the 24th to the 27th January, 2021, there will be series of events that will lead to the final funeral rites and the burial at the Military cemetery in Accra.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah noted that, there committee has put in place measure to help with the compliance of the COVID-19 protocols which he says there will be heavy security presence to help with the compliance thereby urging the public to adhere to the protocols on that day of funeral.
