E/R: Robbers Shoot One On Koforidua-Kukurantumi Road
Highway robbers cause traffic congestion on Monday morning amidst attacking passengers on Koforidua Akyem Kukurantumi road in the Eastern region.
According to reports, these robbers mounted roadblocks pretending to be policemen in road check duty near the Torgbe Shitor road as they attack about 20 passengers. One was shot and rushed to the hospital.
A passenger recounting the incident said the robbers took away Ghc50,000 and other belongings from the passengers including his.
The robbers on Wednesday April 28, 2021 at about 8:00pm, stormed Green Dor Guest House and a nearby filling station, causing damages and took away Ghc137 from the gas filling station Office.
However, the acting Public Relations Officer of the Eastern Regional Command Sargent Francis Gomado mentioned that the night patrol team of the Akyem Tafo District police command took action when the case was report yet before their arrival the robbers escaped.
Some residents in the Abuakwa North Municipality expressed their worry saying robbery in the locality is becoming excessive.
According to them, these robbers could be the same gang that robbed several passengers on Akyem old Tafo to Anyinasin road.
There are therefore pleading with the security service of Akyem Tafo District to tighten their patrol in the locality.
