Ebony’s Driver Remanded Into Prison Custody
The driver in charge of the vehicle that caused the death of the hip-life musician, Priscilla Opoku Agyemang has been remanded into Prison Custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court.
Okoh Pineh Chartey was in charge of the Jeep car with registration number AS-497-16, which was involved in accident that claimed the life of Ebony, her and bodyguard between Nyamebekyere and Nsuta on the Sunyani- Kumasi road on the 8th of February, 2018.
Pineh Chartey pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him and would reappear before the court presided by Mr Johnson Abbey on March 24, this year.
In his prosecution, Police Chief Inspector Jonas Newlove Agyei told the court that the Mr. Okoh Pinen Chartey was driving the late Ebony 20, Franklina Maame Yaa Nkansah 27, and Lance Corporal Vondee Atsu Francis 29, from Sunyani to Accra on that fateful day.
He said when Okoh got to the spot around 23:45 hours where there was a heap of sand on his lane, Okoh swerved to the other lane to avoid running into the sand but unfortunately ran into some railings at the edge of the road killing the three occupants of the vehicle.
The prosecution said Okoh sustained injuries and was rushed to the Bechem Government Hospital for treatment.
He said, investigations revealed that Okoh’s driving license had expired since August 28, 2015, that’s about three years before the accident.
According to the prosecution upon advice from the Attorney General’s Office, the accused was charged and brought before the court.
