Reopening Of Schools, a Step In The Right Direction- Former Dept.Education Minister

Former Education Minister under the John Mahama led administration, Alex Kyeremeh has said Government’s decision to reopen schools is a step in the right direction.

Mr. Kyeremeh explains that the novel coronavirus has come to live with us and so there is the need to find a way to live with it.

The former Minister explaining further on OkayFM in Accra on Monday monitored by mynewsroomgh.com said parents and guardians should be patient on this decision for he believes teachers will be taking good care of their children and ensure all protocols are duly observed.

President Akufo-Addo in his 22nd address on measures taken to curb the spread of Covid-19 indicated that “As our children, Kindergarten, Primary, JHS and SHS 2 and 3 resumes school from tomorrow (Monday), I wish to say that Government is taken the required steps to ensure their safety in school.

He added that Institutions and as well as their teachers have acquired the needed orientation to be able to assist the compliance of students with the protocols. “On our part, Government has also undertaken fumigation and disinfection of schools and the provision of sanitizers, mask, liquid soaps, Veronica bucket, rolls of tissue paper, face shield among others to schools across the country”

“As we all take the step to go back to school, your attitude, behavior and your self discipline  will decide whether school will be remain open.

“I’m pleading with you, please observe the Covid-19 protocols at all times. Protect yourselves and your families but please, do not give me the reason to close down schools again.

Mr. Kyeremeh therefore encouraged parents to watch government’s space as all measures are being put in place to protect their children.

“We can only complain and panic when these measures fail, until then let’s help teachers to protect the children”
