NDC wins Sene West Parliamentary seat
The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, Ampofo Twumasi the winner of the Parliamentary elections held in the Sene West Constituency.
Mr Twumasi was declared winner after he polled 13,116 votes as against the NPP’s 13,100 in the final round of counting of votes in the constituency.
This comes after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate, Joseph Markay Kuma, sought an injunction against the election results over claims of irregularities with the electoral process although collation of results had not taken place.
But in a court ruling on Thursday morning, the Presiding Judge, His Lordship Justice Frederick Nawura, struck out the NPP’s case and directed that the Electoral Commission be allowed to do its work.
The NPP gained 148 votes while the NDC gained 275 votes. The votes were added to the already counted ballot to produce a winner in the election.
