Those who do not understand ‘any idiot can go to court’ have a problem with logic-Asiedu Nketia

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketia has said anybody who do not understand his ‘any idiot can go to court’ comment have a problem with logic”.

This comes after his own comment have been used to troll him and his party on social media, as his critics dare while other well-meaning institutions urge the party to resort to judicial process for redress.

The NDC has embark on series of protest to show the Electoral Commission of Ghana and the New Patriotic Party that the results declared by the EC in favor of the NPP does not sit well with them.

But Mr. Asiedu Nketia explaining his comment said ‘any idiot can go to court’ comment does not mean that anybody who takes a matter to court for adjudication is an idiot.

His famous comment was first made after the 2012 general elections when the results were contested in court by the then-presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo and the party machinery.

The long serving general secretary explaining further said his words were taken out of context and that anybody who do not understand it have a problem with logic”.

“I said that any idiot can take you to court but it is the judges who will decide whether the case is sensible or not, and that is the process we have in Ghana.

“Our law indicates that any idiot can go to court, but there are people who are saying that when you say any ‘idiot’, the meaning is that those who go to court are idiots; they have problem with logic”, he said.

When asked whether the protest will be ending anytime soon, Mr. Nketia said their street protests will rage unabated to overturn the “stolen elections”.

“All the things that guarantee democracy have been sidestepped. If we don’t put a stop to it to uphold justice at all times this will be the end of our democracy, because in the next elections, you can’t imagine what will happen.

“The protests will shed light on the truth and if we’re able to disseminate the truth to Ghanaians then we can get the desired peace in the country. If you go to a cemetery you’ll be deluded to think that the place is quiet and peaceful, but beneath that peace is rotten dead bodies. Is that the peace we want in Ghana? Nelson Mandela, Fidel Castro and other freedom fighters have said peace is the product of justice. So if justice hasn’t been delivered and you still demand peace, what you get is appeasement.” he said in an interview with Bonohene Bafour Awuah on Agoo TV/Kasapa Fm on Monday.
