A state funeral for the late former President, Jerry John Rawlings, will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, at the Independence Square in Accra.

A statement from the funeral planning committee said the late president’s family “is working in conjunction with the Government on the finer details of the funeral ceremony and will communicate the arrangements in due course.”
”The family of His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings, has in consultation with the Government, agreed that the date for the State funeral of the former President is confirmed for Wednesday, 23rd December, 2020 at the Independence Square in Accra.

The family is working in conjunction with the Government on the finer details of the funeral ceremony and will communicate the arrangements in due course.

Former President Jerry John Rawlings passed died at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital in Accra on November 12, 2020 after a short illness.

The passing of the former military leader came weeks after the demise of his mother.

The issue of corruption has become debatable and the food on every political table in the heat ahead of this year’s elections.

The former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu recently questioned the commitment of President Akufo-Addo in the fight against corruption.

In a 27-page statement, Mr. Amidu believes the reaction of the President under the circumstance makes it clear that the President’s role in the deal is much more pronounced describing him as “the mother serpent of corruption.

The Office of the Presidency had earlier issued a statement that it’s office is not going to reply to any statement or message from the former prosecutor.

The press secretary in his post argued that, it is a mere propaganda gingered by the Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)

Controversial Kumawood Actress, Tracey Boakye has finally apologized to the Member of Parliament of Assin Central, Kennedy Akonpreko Agyapong for disrespecting him during their just ended “beef”.

The outspoken mother of two in an Instagram post shared a video of an interview in which Kennedy Agyapong claimed that all that he said about John Mahama and Tracey Boakye on campaign grounds was but she (Tracey Boakye) took offense.

The ‘Baby Mama’ movie Producer in response stated that if Ken was only joking, then she has also ceased fire and retracted her words She believe such jokes are expensive.

She wrote: “JOKING??? Really??? Ok, Hon Kennedy Agyapong, I beg you not to joke with such issues again, especially during an election period, No Politician has bought any house nor cars for me, My Man is not a politician. The National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye known in the political space as Nana B has debunked threat allegation messages to the former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.

A statement issued by the former Special Prosecutor, Mr. Martin Amidu claims that one ‘Nana B’ has directed ethnocentric comments and threats at him for his anti-corruption risk assessment of the Agyapa Royalties agreement which many has taken to be NPP’s National Youth Organiser, Nana B.

However, Nana B in a Facebook post disclaimed that he would want to place on record that the said Nana B, referred to in Mr. Martin Amidu’s most recent letter is not him and has nothing to do with him. Neither the telephone number nor the email address referenced in the said letter are similarly not mine and are not known to me.”

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia says the Akufo-Addo government has created two million jobs in the formal since it assumed power in 2016.

According to him, unemployment was a major challenge for young people when the NPP took office hence a major action was required.

“We have created jobs, especially for the youth. Another major challenge we sought to address was the hopelessness and despair that the lack of employment opportunities under the previous NDC government had plunged our youth into. The human cost on the number of able-bodied of educated youth of this country by the economic mismanagement of the NDC government had grown to become a national security threat. Nothing is more dehumanizing and more frustrating for young people than being jobless. We did not run away from the challenge, we took the bull by the horn and in four years, we have created over two million jobs in the formal sector,” the Vice President said in a lecture in Accra Thursday.

He stressed: “As a result of our industrialized transformation, nearly 19,000 direct jobs have been created by the 76 operating IDIF firms and helping it to restart operation, Anglogold Ashanti, Obuasi mines have employed over 4, 000 people. We have revived companies like the Ghana Publishing Company as well as Ghana Post”.

Dr Bawumia also noted: “In four years, we have stabilised the economy. Prior to the coronavirus pandemic, which has impacted all economies in the world, we have reduced inflation, and inflation continues to fall. We have doubled economic growth in the first three years, we reduced the exchange rate depreciation. The exchange rate depreciation has been relatively stable. Ghana has recorded the lowest rate of depreciation [of the cedi] in the last 28 years in 2020.”

“Notwithstanding that this is an election year, Ghana in 2020 has seen the lowest depreciation since 1992″.

Ghanaian comedian Funny Face, has finally apologized for all that has gone on between himself and baby mama, Vanessa .

The Queen mother of Asuboni No.3, a suburb of Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipal Assembly of Eastern Region Nana Tenewaah Safoa II, could not hold her tears during the commissioning of the electrification project in the area.

The community after 500yrs has finally benefited from the national grid. A ceremony held yesterday at the Palace witnessed a remarkable atmosphere where the entire community expressed appreciation to government for making history in the area.

Addressing a gathering on Tuesday 24th November 2020, Nana Tenewaah Safoa II recounting the memories of challenges they’ve been through showed much appreciation to the Deputy CEO for Middle Belt Development Authority Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng for her immense contribution towards this development.

According to the queen mother, she had the opportunity to meet Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng during the NPP Primaries; and put before her one major challenge confronting the community, thus lack of Electricity.

“Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng did not hesitate and pushed so hard to ensure she forfeit her promise and today we are experiencing this massive development’’. She said.

The queen mother also used the opportunity to appeal to government to assist them with road networks, Health Center, Schools and also help develop the waterfall in the area.

Asuboni Waterfall is one of the most beautiful tourist sites in Kwahu of the Eastern Region which attracts visitors who troop to experience the unique atmosphere.

The MCE for Kwahu West Hon Yaw Owusu Addo told Agoo News this will create a small-scale business enterprise as Asuboni No.3 is on the verge to develop.

On her part, Lawyer Joyce Opoku Boateng said, “when I met the ECG, I realized Asuboni No.3 was not included so far as the selected communities on the National Grid are concerned. So what I did was that I immediately contacted the deputy Energy Minister Hon Owireku Aidoo. He did not disappoint me at all and today we are seeing this development. I promised Nanahemaa that, I will do whatever I can to make sure Asuboni No.3 benefits from the National Grid but let’s give thanks to President HE Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo for always listening to the cry of the people. In order to develop our community, we must give Nana Addo for more years and vote for the parliamentary candidate Joseph Frempong to move our community and the nation forward.’’

Some children who spoke to Agoo FM News Ebenezer Kojo Nyavor were much excited over the electrification project adding “we’ve been through mess for the past years but from now on, we are going to learn so hard and one day a president will come from Asuboni No.3’’

The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Nkawkaw Constituency Joseph Frempong said he will do his best to support education in the area. He assured to address other challenges confronting residents at Asuboni No.3 and the entire Nkawkaw Constituency from 2021 when voted to hope for another 4 term for the NPP.
