Stop Creating Wrong Impression About NPP Government – Kwesimintsim Mp To Minority

The Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim constituency, Dr. Prince Hamidu Armah has urged the Minority in Parliament to stop creating the wrong impression that the NPP does not have Ghanaian students at heart.

This is as a result of the rejection by the Majority in Parliament of the motion moved in Parliament by Hon Mahama Ayariga MP for Bawku Central for absorption of school fees of tertiary students by the President.

In an interview with Angel FM’s Parliamentary correspondent, Mr. Hamidu Armah said, Hon Mahama Ayariga’s motion was vague and ill – defined and also violates article 108 of the Constitution which does not allow Parliament to pass a law through a private member’s motion that imposes financial burden on government.

He said the NPP under President Akufo Addo has introduced various intervention measures aimed at promoting tertiary education such as the introduction of scholarship to first year tertiary students.

He added that, Mr Ayariga was not specific on which of the fees he want government to absorb for public tertiary Education institutions as it was contained in the private member motion.
