Five Ghanaians Arrested In Dubai For Possession Of Weed

Five Ghanaians have been detained by Police in Dubai for drug trafficking.

They were arrested from the Dubai international airport while allegedly attempting to smuggle marijuana into the United Arab Emirates (UAE) within the first quarter of 2021.

One of them is serving a 10-years jail term for carrying weed he was not aware of and weed that someone else would have benefited from.

In a statement, Ghana’s consulate in Dubai disclosed that the substances usually concealed in food items were reportedly given to travelers by their agents in Ghana.

They are therefore advising travelers to desist from receiving items from agents or other persons unless they can inspect and ascertain the exact contents of such packages.

Full List: President Akufo –Addo names 39 Deputy Ministers for second term

President Akufo-Addo has officially released his list of deputy Ministers subject approval by parliament.

The list was announced in a statement signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin.

In all, there are 39 deputy ministers appointed under 24 portfolios.

Ten of the nominees are women.

Nana Agradaa Arrested, Two TV Stations Shutdown By security

Controversial Ghanaian fetish Priestess, Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa has been arrested.

According to reports reaching mynewsroomgh.com, two of her television stations, Thunder TV and Ice TV have also been shut down by state security personnel with equipment and other assets seized.

It is alleged that, the television stations were raided earlier today for operating without license.

The popular “Sika Gari” is being advertised on her TV stations which she claims her gods doubles money for anyone who needs money. But some people see it as  fraud.

People who are victims of her Sika Gari have been complaining about it being fraud on various platform as their money sent are not been doubled as she claimed.

She has hence admitted to this illegality and is currently in custody assisting with further investigations.

Following the incident that happened at Kasoa where two teenagers killed their 10years old friend because according to them a fetish priestess asked them to, majority 0f Ghanaians are blaming TV stations who have been promoting such content on their stations.

This they believe is having high influence on the lives of Ghanaian children as they tend to believe everything that is being said by these Mallams, fetish priests and Priestess

As such, efforts are underway to rid the system of this canker and reduce overcrowding on Ghana’s air waves.

 

Just In: Akuapem Poloo Granted Bail

Criminal Court 2 Division of the High Court has granted Ghanaian Actress, Rosemond Brown bail following an appeal filed by her lawyer against her 90-day sentencing by an Accra Circuit Court.

The bail was granted pending hearing on the appeal filed on Monday, April 19.

She was granted bail in the sum of GHS80, 000 with two sureties.

In addition to the bail, she is to report to the case investigator every two weeks and is to deposit her passport with the registrar of the court.

Akuapem Poloo was sentenced to jail for 90 days after she was convicted of sharing nude pictures of herself and her seven-year-old son in June last year.

The actress was convicted on her own plea by the Circuit Court in Accra after pleading guilty to three charges.

The court presided over by Her Honour Christina deferred her sentencing on Friday, April 16, 2021.

Born Kofi Ampofo recently in an interview with Kofi Adoma on Kofi TV gave the reason why he did not support the idea of cutting his mad rasta hair saying it is of that which makes people have pity on him and dash him money and food.

He explained that if he dares bring the hair down people might think he is not mad hence stop gifting him though some people have tried to.

Ghanaian actor and musician Kwadwo Nkansah popularly known as Lilwin has finally open up on his relationship with his ex-wife.

The comedian in an interview with Zionfelix said he has moved on to marry another woman after he and his ex-wife’s relationship came to an end of which they had two kids together.

Maame Serwaa (current wife) as Lilwin mentioned is the one taking care of the children he had with his ex-wife together with their two kids.

The award winning actor while talking about his ex-wife, Patricia said they are very cool. To him, there is nothing beneficial in being loggerheads with someone you have had a good time with especially when God blessed them with children.

He advised people who are in a relationship to focus and not listen to outside gossip. This he believes will strengthen the relationship and flourish it to the end.

 

COVID-19 vaccine : Second dose can be received 12 weeks after first jab – GHS Boss

Government has assured Ghanaians, who are concerned that they might not be able to receive their second dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine when it is due, that it is working to procure the next batch of vaccines.

Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye speaking at a press conference in Accra on Sunday, April 18, 2021, explained that despite initial assertions that persons would have to receive their second jabs at least eight weeks after the first, it is actually possible to get your second dose at least four weeks after the initial deadline has passed.

Adding that that the delay in the procurement of additional COVID-19 vaccines has been occasioned by the global scramble for the limited global supply.

“We are assuring people that if they do not get the second dose by the eighth week it doesn’t mean there’s something wrong. There is still a four-week window beyond to get it,” he said.

He stated that the current priority of the GHS is to ensure that all Ghanaians receive their first jab of the vaccine.

“As a Service, we are more concerned about having more people with the first dose. There are also bilateral arrangements that will bring in other COVAX vaccines, including Johnson and Johnson, which we are expecting in the third quarter of the year.”

C/R: Man, 50, shot dead with body parts missing

A man believed to be in his late 50s has been shot dead and dumped at a construction site at the Gomoa Ojobi Estate in the Gomoa East District in the Central region.

According to the reports the deceased may have been intentionally shot dead by the land guards in the area.

Gov’t of Ghana Signs Agreement With AirtelTigo For Transfer of Ownership

The government of Ghana has signed an agreement with telecommunications company AirtelTigo for transfer of ownership to the state.

The government of Ghana and the parent companies of AirtelTigo concluded negotiations to transfer the shares of the company to the Ghana government.

The transfer of ownership comes after AirtelTigo in June 2020 announced its decision to exit the Ghanaian market.

This agreement transfers all customers, assets, and agreed liabilities of AirtelTigo to the government of Ghana.

In a release signed by the Communication Minister, Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful said “We consider this a positive step as it adds to the growing portfolio of digital infrastructure assets being utilized by the government,” Communication Minister Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful stated.

Mrs. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful signed on behalf of the government of Ghana, while Ms. Jatina Catharina Uneken-van de Vreede, Mr. Martin P Frechette, Mr. Timothy Pennington, Mr. Eric Nana Nipah, and Mr. Vish Ashiagbor signed on behalf of the seller entities.

GOVERNMENT SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH AIRTEL TIGO FOR TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP

The Government of Ghana and the parent companies of AirtelTigo, Bharti Airtel Ghana Holdings B.V., MIC Africa B.V have concluded negotiations and signed an agreement to transfer the shares of the company to the Ghana Government following the announcement of the company’s departure from the Ghanaian market last year.

This agreement transfers all customers, assets, and agreed liabilities of AirtelTigo to the Government of Ghana. We consider this a positive step as it adds to the growing portfolio of digital infrastructure assets being utilized by the government.

The government will operate this national asset in the best interest of the nation, the company, telecommunications industry, and ensure the protection of the interests of all employees, customers, contractors, suppliers, stakeholders and sustain the digital transformation of Ghana.
