A chief priestess has been robbed of her phone during the 2023 Aboakyir festival in Winneba

The priestess from Gyahazie, one of the communities in the Effutu Municipality narrating her ordeal said the robbers took her purse which contains her phone and money.

She however vowed to curse who ever is behind the stealing.

The Aboakyer festival is a bushbuck hunting festival celebrated by the people of Winneba in the Central Region of Ghana.

The Aboakyer Festival takes place every 1st Saturday in May in the coastal town of Winneba where they celebrate their migration from Timbuktu with a traditional hunt, known as the Aboakyer festival. The name Aboakyer translates as “hunting for game or animal” in the Fante dialec.

The festival begins with the hunt on Saturday, when asafo members (hunters) are roused by the sound of drums, bugle, rattles, and bells to begin trooping to their different meeting sites.

Iddrisu Hardi alias Pagaaza and Mumuni Osman, both former Deputy Northern Regional Communications Officers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have been arrested in connection with the attack on a Tamale-based radio presenter.

The suspects attacked Abubakari Sadiq, a Dagbon FM broadcaster, late last week during a live studio conversation.

In an earlier statement, the police promised to apprehend the attackers and bring them to justice.

On Monday, May 8, 2023, the police verified the arrest of the two people who stormed the station to attack the journalist and said they will be charged in court.

“The Police have today, 8th May, 2023, arrested the two people who allegedly attacked Abubakari Sadiq, a presenter with the Dagbon Radio station in Tamale, while he was hosting a programme at the station on 3rd May, 2023.

Following the attack, the Police visited the scene but the suspects had bolted. A video footage of the incident was obtained to aid the investigation.

Sadiq Abubakari Gariba, a Dagbon Radio radio show host, was attacked while hosting a live broadcast in Tamale, Northern Region.

Hardi Pagazaa, the region’s former Deputy Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), assaulted him after storming the building and starting a fight.

Prior to the incident, the panel was discussing the Ghana National Fire Service in the region.

Three young men aged 19 to 22 have returned a box carrying a snake after it failed to vomit cash as promised by a fetish priest, according to reports from Nkurankan in the Eastern Region.

Reports from Nkurankan in the Eastern Region indicates that the unidentified young men were driving a Honda Civic Salon car but are not known Nkurakan residents.

They dumped the box containing the snake and informed everyone present that a fetish priest would be picking it up because it had failed to vomit the cash he promised.

Before Ghana Police Service officers arrived, the young men had already left, and the fetish priest had already picked up the box and fled the site.

Community members are in shocked as this is the first such incident is happening.

The Ghana Police Service has today, 23rd April, 2023 arrested the police inspector who has been fingered for the murder of a 26 years old Maadjoa in the Ashanti Region.

In a statement released by the Ghana police service said the suspect, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region as a result of a special Police operation, which was launched following the shooting incident.

“The Police have this evening arrested a Police officer, Inspector Ahmed Twumasi, who is alleged to have shot and killed a female adult, who was believed to be his girlfriend.

The shooting incident occurred in Kumasi, in the Ashanti region, on Thursday, 20th April 2023.

The suspect, who has been on the run since the incident, was arrested at Sekyere, near Effiduase in the Ashanti Region as a result of a special Police operation, which was launched following the shooting incident.

The suspect is currently in Police custody and will be put before court to face justice”

Former Coach Kwesi Appiah has confirmed that he has been in discussions with the Management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko in a bid to become the head coach.

The porcupine warriors are without a permanent coach following the firing of Seydou Zerbo, who was fired last month following a 2-0 loss to Medeama.

Mr. Kwasi Appiah in interview with purefm in Kumasi said he has met with club officials, but he cannot demand the role of head coach without the CEO’s knowledge.

“Asante Kotoko has a CEO and I can’t go to Manhyia and demand that I should be named the new head coach without the knowledge of the CEO. If there is any assistance, I am willing to do that.”

A young lady identified as Maadjoa has been shot multiple times to death at Adum, Kumasi in the Ashanti Region by her boyfriend over cheating.

Brother of the deceased narrating the story said he was in the room with his sister when Madjoa told her she is stepping out, which he refused to let her go. But Maadjoa found her way out.

“I saw my sister dressing up yesterday after taking my bath; when I asked where she was going, she said she was just meeting someone outside; I insisted I was not going to let her walk out.” I’d never said that to her before, but something compelled me to do so yesterday. She rushed through the door as I was trying to stop her.”

I heard six gunshots in about twenty minutes while waiting for my sister outside. Initially, I assumed it was armed robbers, so I decided to go down stairs and see what was going on; unfortunately, I spotted my sister dead on the floor.

An eye witness and a security man at the Dufie Tower in Adum also said he saw the two sitting as lovers. Suddenly, the suspect pulled a gun and shot the lady multiple times.

According to an eye witness, the lady Maadjoa shouted “Taakum please don’t kill me, I did not sleep with him”
