5 Things to Stop Buying if You Need to Save $500 This Month

Looking for ways to save money fast without flipping your lifestyle upside down? The truth is, you don’t need to hustle harder- you just need to cut a few daily expensive expenses. If you’re trying to take control of your spending and save a little more each month, here are five common things to stop buying right now. Cut these out, and you could be on your way to saving $500 (or more) this month alone.

  1. Daily Coffee Runs

Yes, your $6 oat milk latte adds up.
Buying coffee every day might feel like a tiny treat, but over 30 days, that’s around $180 — just on caffeine.

What to do instead:
Make your coffee at home. Invest in a cute mug, some good beans, and a milk frother. You’ll still get the vibe — minus the cost.

  1. Takeout & Delivery Fees

Between delivery charges, tips, and inflated prices, ordering food online can cost you 30–40% more than dining in or cooking.

Quick math:
Three orders a week = $90–$120. In one month? That’s almost $400.

What to do instead:
Try batch-cooking meals twice a week. Keep it simple. You don’t need to become a chef — just keep a few staples ready so you’re not tempted to order.

  1. Random Amazon Purchases

We’ve all been there  late-night scrolling, “just browsing,” and suddenly you’ve bought another LED light, water bottle, or gadget you’ll use twice.

What to do instead:
Create a “Waitlist” in your notes. Add items you want, then review it once a week. Most of the time, you’ll realize you don’t really need them after all.

  1. Fast Fashion Splurges

Trendy $20 tops and impulse sales feel like bargains… until your closet is full and your bank account’s empty.

What to do instead:
Shop with a plan. Choose quality basics that mix and match well. Thrift stores and swap groups are also goldmines if you’re on a budget.

  1. Unused Subscriptions

Streaming platforms, apps, magazines they sneak in and stay long after you’ve stopped using them.

Do a subscription audit:
Cancel what you haven’t used in the last 30 days. That $9.99/month app you forgot about? Cancel it and pocket the change.

You don’t need to sacrifice joy to start saving money. Small shifts in daily habits can add up fast.
Cut out just a few of these purchases, and you could easily save $500+ a month — money you can redirect toward your goals, your peace of mind, or something more meaningful.

Start small. Stay consistent. Your wallet will thank you.

How to Romanticize Your Life (Even on Busy Weekdays)

Let’s face reality—life can get hectic. Between work, errands, and trying to stay on top of everything, our days can start to feel like one big to-do list. But what if you could add a little sparkle to the everyday? What if your weekday didn’t just feel productive but also beautiful? You deserve that! That’s when romanticizing your life comes in.

No, it’s not about pretending life is perfect; it’s about being present, slowing down, and finding magic in the ordinary.

Here are some simple, low-effort ways to romanticize your life, even on the busiest weekdays:

1. Start your morning like you are the main character: Instead of scrolling on your phone first in the morning, play a soft playlist to light your spirit for the day. Take a walk and breathe fresh air, even if it’s just 10 minutes.

2. Dress for yourself: I tell you, you don’t need a fancy event to wear your favorite outfit or perfume you love. Wear things that make you feel good.

3. Take your lunch break seriously: Step away from your screen if you can. Even a 10-minute mindful break with your favorite meal or snack can feel like a reset. If you eat outside or in a cute corner with good vibes, that will be great too.

4. Slow down your evening routine: Instead of rushing the night, try adding something soft and intentional—a shower with music, dim lighting, or a skincare routine that feels like a mini spa. I call it a tiny ritual.

5. Remember to capture the little things.

6. Talk to yourself with kindness: Speaking kind words to yourself brings a different inner happiness; do yourself an honor by speaking kindly to yourself.

Note that romanticizing yourself is not all about money or aesthetics. It’s about creating small, joyful pauses that remind you you’re alive—not just surviving but living.

5 Things to Stop Buying if you want to Save More Money

For the longest time, I thought saving money meant struggle. I mean, like giving up all the things you love. But it turns out that a lot of what we spend money on isn’t even necessary. It is just a habit.

To save some money, start cutting back, the following not drastically, just intentionally. And little by little your monthly spending will start to shrink.

1. Unplanned grocery trips: You may plan to walk in for one thing and leave with extras. I know, and I understand. Now this is what you have to do: plan your meals, stick to a list, and avoid shopping when you are hungry. Simple but effective.

2. Fast food on lazy days: I get it; after a long day, cooking feels like a task. But starting to keep a list of easy go-to meals that take 15-20 minutes helps so much.

3. Every new skincare trend on the internet: Let’s be honest, TikTok and other social media platforms would entice you to patronize almost every skincare product just because you want perfect skin. You need to realize you need a few products that actually work for you. That way you spend less, and your skin will do just fine.

4. New Wigs: Stop buying almost every wig they advertise on the internet; you will go broke.

5. Spending more than you earn: Learn to spend within your budget and not above your budget.

You can still enjoy life and save money.

Dr. Yaw Adutwum donates GHC 100,000 and 200 bags of cement to support victims of Adum fire disaster

Former Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has donated an amount of GHC100 and 200 bags of cement to support the victims of the Adum fire disaster.

In a Facebook post by the minister sighted by mynewsroomgh, the MP wrote:

“Today, I visited Adum Blue Light to commiserate with the victims of the fire disaster, which consumed their investments on March 21, 2025.

I was saddened to see how years of struggle by the traders to build their businesses had gone down the drain as a result of the inferno.

This underscores the need for sustained fire safety education in markets and public places as a country to prevent a recurrence of such devastating disasters going forward.

It is my conviction, as a Member of Parliament (MP) from the Ashanti Region, to contribute my widow’s mite to ameliorate the impact on the businesses of the victims, who require all the needed support to get back on their feet.

I, therefore, donated an amount of GHC 100,000.00 and 200 bags of cement to support efforts to rebuild the place.

I also encouraged them not to give up and to work closely with relevant authorities to pick up the pieces and further assured them of my continuous support in these difficult times.”

5 Ways to Master Calmness

Calmness is one of the most relaxing skills you can ever master. Being calm has a lot of benefits that could change your perspective about life.

These five steps are going to help you master calmness.

1. Stop arguing with reality; the earlier you understand that you cannot change the reality, the better life becomes. Never argue; observe.

2. Allow people to misunderstand you; it is OK to be misunderstood. Opinions are like noses; everyone has one. You don’t have to be right all the time.

3. Stop needing to be right.

4. Stop chasing people or things that aren’t chasing you.

5. Start listening more than talking; trust me, you will find power in pausing.

Peace isn’t something you find; it’s something you choose.

Remember, calm isn’t luck; it’s discipline.

Pitch Invader in Ghana-Chad Game Sentenced to 100 Days Imprisonment

21 year old Mohammed Huzeinu, has been sentenced to 100 days in prison by an Accra District Court for invading the pitch during Ghana’s match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, 2025

Huzeinu’s actions disrupted the game, an offense that has potential financial consequences for the Association (GFA), as the Association is likely to be fined whenever such incidents occur.
Pitch invasions are considered a serious breach of security and disrupt the smooth running of games.

The sentencing serves as a strong warning to fans to respect stadium regulations and maintain order during matches.

The FA has consistently urged fans to refrain from such actions, emphasising the importance of discipline and adherence to match day protocols to avoid fines and maintain Ghana’s reputation in international football.
