Who is Dick Van Dyke? Real Name, Age, Bio

Dick Van Dyke, real name Richard Wayne Van Dyke is an American actor, entertainer, and comedian born in West Plains, Missouri, to stenographer Hazel Victoria (McCord) and salesperson Loren Wayne Van Dyke.

 

His lineage is a mix of German, Swiss-German, English, Dutch, and Scottish. Van Dyke had minor roles prior to the musical “Bye-Bye Birdie” (1960), for which he received a Tony Award, and subsequently in the film adaptation of that play, Bye Bye Birdie. (1963).

 

His film roles over the years have included Mary Poppins (1964), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968), and Fitzwilly (1967), as well as a number of popular television shows that have earned him no less than four Emmy Awards and three made-for-CBS movies.

 

Dick became romantically engaged with Michelle Triola after divorcing his wife Margie Willett in the 1970s.
