GIJ Management Sued For Interfering In SRC Affairs and Sacking Executives (Full Statement)
Management of the Ghana Institute of Journalism has been sued for Interfering in the affairs of the Student Representative Council and sacking legitimate executives.
In a writ sighted by mynewsroomgh.com has the plaintiff of Alimatu Quaye, Edinam Adoboe, Bryan E. Sarpong, Ester Dorman, all of C/O GA-481-8102, ADDO ODAMETEY. to the defendant, Ghana Institute of Journalism.
Management of the school early this year announced the decision not to recognize the appointed leaders who are the driving force behind the affairs of students as SRC executives.
The communique said “appointment of students to hold office as SRC leaders is alien to the SRC constitution and in any case did not follow the procedure for the selection of student lead3as stipulated in the SRC constitution”
Some of the students who were approved to hold office were however asked to step down.
This led to filing a suit at the High Court of Ghana challenging the decision.
The students in their statement want the court a declaration that they were legitimately appointed and ought to be recognized.
