Akufo-Addo Declares December 7 As Public Holiday
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has declared election day, December 7, 2020 a statutory public holiday.
This follows a proposal by the Electoral Commission (EC) after a meeting with the Inter-party Advisory Committee (IPAC), where all political parties, civil society organizations and some international development partners agreed the day should be a holiday.
In a statement from the Presidency, signed by its Director of Communications, Eugene Arhin said the decision was to allow for a smooth conduction of the election and also enable all Ghanaians time and space to exercise their civic responsibility on election day.
