Monterrey draws with Inter Milan in a Group E Clash.
Sergio Ramos’ Monterrey pulled off a stunning result, holding UEFA Champions League finalists Inter Milan to a well-deserved draw in a thrilling Group E clash at the FIFA Club World Cup, played at the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium in California.
Both clubs came into the match eager to prove they were the frontrunners in the pool, and the game delivered fireworks as each squad flashed skill and grit.
Monterrey seized the lead when ageless defender Sergio Ramos nodded in a 25th-minute corner, timing his leap above Inter’s back line as if he were still at the Bernabeu. The stadium erupted as Ramos, celebrated with Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘suiii’. V
However, Inter Milan regrouped and snatched a reply before half-time; Lautaro Martnez slotted his shot past the keeper, finishing from close range in the 42nd minute.
The numbers clearly favoured Inter on match day. They hit fifteen shots while Monterrey managed eleven. Inter kept the ball 62 percent of the time. Their passing was sharper too, landing at 87 percent against Monterreys 77.
Inter Milan will face Urawa Reds, who is at the bottom of Group E table, on Saturday 21st June, at 7:00 pm, while Monterrey’s next match will be against Group E leader, River Plate, the same day at 10:00 pm.
