17 Pragia and Aboboyaa riders arrested over road offences
The Acting Regional Police Commander DCOP Ernest Mensah says 17 riders of Pragia and Aboboyaa at Sefwi Wiaso Municipality were arrested during an operation exercise which was undertaken by the regional MTTD.
DCOP Ernest briefing the media said the operation lead by the operation team arresting 17 tricycle riders.
Among the arrested individuals only four were able to pay their fine, however those who were unable to pay theirs will face the law.
“Last week Monday and Tuesday the MTTD and regional operations spread themselves on the street to arrest these youthful drivers who don’t have driving license to face court this afternoon. That’s why we invited the press to witness this exercise to make it clear to the public that these tricycles ride by the youth won’t be accepted by the Western North regional command, some of the tricycle riders don’t even have number plate, some are also under age. For this reason, we arrested owners of these tricycles to face the court. In the process 17 persons were fined to pay 600ghc to 1200ghc, however only 4 people were able to pay leaving 13 persons who were unable to pay”, DCOP Ernest Mensah stated.
