Kumasi- Accra Highway Crash: 68 Injured
Two grandbird buses collide at duapompo, 68 victims rescued
The Ghana Fire Service has reported that at 2231hrs , on 30th August 2026, a road traffic accident involving two Granbird buses occurred at Duapompo along the Kumasi-Accra Highway.
The buses involved were a VIP Granbird, GW-5373-23, owned by Chairman ION and driven by Mr. Simon Azuma with 34 passengers, and a KN KIA Granbird, AK-980-26, owned by KOD Transport and driven by Mr. Francis Yeboah, also with 34 passengers. Sixty-eight persons were involved. Sixty-seven victims who sustained various injuries were rescued by the public before the crew arrived and conveyed to Konongo Government Hospital. The VIP driver who was trapped was rescued by the crew using a spreader in a dashboard roll method and conveyed by an Ambulance GV 589-20.
The cowl of the VIP Granbird and the rear of the KN KIA Granbird were partially damaged. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
